Team Motopark is proud to announce a new addition to the team’s 2017 Formula 4 line-up. The 15-year-old Belgian Charles Weerts will fight with the Oschersleben-based squad for the rookie title in the German Formula 4 Championship.

Charles Weerts looks back on a career in kart racing – he has competed in the CIK-FIA World Junior Championship, the CIK-FIA European Championship and the German Kart Championship.

Now, the Belgian racer faces his first full season in single-seaters, having recently enjoyed a first taste of Formula racing in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
There, the 15-year-old already completed two rounds in the Formula 4 of the United Arab Emirates with Team Motopark.

With this extra experience, he may have gained a crucial advantage over other rookie drivers in the German Formula 4, Team Motopark principal Timo Rumpfkeil is convinced.

‘We are delighted that Charles will compete with us in the ADAC Formula 4. He has already completed his first races in the UAE Formula 4, which is great preparation for the European season,’ said Motopark boss Timo Rumpfkeil.

‘The first races and the tests have been very successful. We are happy to have Charles on board, because he showed good potential.
‘We are confident that he will achieve strong results in his first year and are looking forward to the coming season with him.’

Charles Weerts is the second driver after Jonathan Aberdein that Team Motopark has signed for the ADAC Formula 4. While South Africa’s Aberdein is a strong contestant for the championship title, Charles Weerts aims to be the best rookie of the season.

‘My goal is to be among the top 12 in the overall ranking at the end of the season. And obviously, I would love to become rookie champion. Some pole positions would be great, too,’ he said.
