Cristina Calin: Home in the World of Numbers
She feels at home in the world of numbers: Cristina Calin has been working at the reception and in the accounting department of Team Motopark for eight years.Always at her side: dog dame Conny. The Golden Retriever accompanies Cristina Calin every day to the office in the Team Motopark headquarters next to the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben.
Her job is probably one of the most responsible in the team: the 49-year-old is not only the good soul at the front desk; she mainly controls incoming and outgoing payments, coordinates the correspondence and prepares the balance sheets. Before joining the team, Cristina Calin worked for one and a half years at the Motorsport Arena. There she made contact with Timo Rumpfkeil, who invited her to work for the team.
The self-confident Romanian learned her job in a large company with more than 300 employees in her home country. There, she was in charge of the entire bookkeeping. Her husband Daniel also works for the team. He has been a race mechanic for Team Motopark’s Formula 3 division for nine years. Although she has little contact with the cars and the race scene in her job, she is quite interested in motorsports. “When I was young I liked Fernando Alonso”, she says. She was already watching races at the Hockenheimring when the Formula Renault stopped there. And, of course, in Oschersleben. “I always follow the races on TV”, she says.
Seeks Compensation in Painting
When Cristina Calin speaks, a slight Eastern European accent shines through, since she was born and raised in Brașov in Transylvania, where she attended a German school. “Actually, I would have liked to become a lawyer”, she says. Now she is at home in the world of figures and balance sheets. She likes her work, although she is rather exotic as a woman in motorsports. However, as is the case in any job, not everything is always easy and relaxed. She seeks compensation in nature and landscape painting.
With her husband, she lives very close to the Motorsports Arena Oschersleben in the small village of Hordorf. In March she obtained the German citizenship.
